Gomez gets extension with Brewers

Outfielder Carlos Gomez has agreed to a 4-year, $28.3-million contract extension with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Gomez would have been eligible for free agency after this season.  He had agreed to a 1-year, $4.3-million, one-year deal in January.

Gomez hit .260 with 19 homers and 37 stolen bases in 137 games in 2012.  He was one of only five players in the major leagues with at least 15 homers and 30 stolen bases.

Cactus League Update
Yovani Gallardo served up a leadoff home run, then settled in to work four strong innings, but the Brewers still fell to the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-0 on Wednesday night.

The Brewers get the day off today.
