Bucks acquire Magic guard J.J. Redick
Looking to end a slide that has seen the Milwaukee Bucks drop 8 of their last 10 games, they have acquired Orlando Magic guard J.J. Redick right at the trade line today (Thursday).
According to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Bucks are sending Beno Udrih, Tobias Harris and Doron Lamb to the Magic and are also acquiring 6’10 forward Gustavo Ayon and 6-0 guard Ish Smith.
The former Duke standout is averaging a career high 15.1 points a game for the Magic this season, but he’s in the final year of his contract and will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.
Udrih was the top backup in the backcourt for the Bucks, but he has cooled off of late. Has was a starter at the beginning of the season but quickly fell out of favor. Lamb hadn’t been in the playing rotation and was sent to the D-League a couple of times.
Redick has been with the Magic for the entire 6+ seasons of his career. Orlando made him the 11th overall pick of the first round in the 2006 draft. He’s shooting a career-best 45% from the field and 39% from three-point range in 50 games this season.
The 27-year-old Ayon is from Mexico. He’s averaging 3.6 points and 3.3 reboudns this season for the Magic after being traded by the New Orleans Hornets to the Magic in exchange for forward Ryan Anderson during the past off-season.
The 24-year-old Smith went undrafted out of Wake Forest in 2010. He signed with the Magic as a free agent after previous stints with Houston, Memphis and Golden State.
The trade deadline passed with the Bucks electing not to move guard Monta Ellis, who has an $11 million dollar player option in his contract for next season.
